Avocado and Kiwi Smoothie

Doesn't look very appetising, right? More like the 'herb drink' from Rosemary's Baby. But believe me, it's delicious. 


For a large glass of smoothie (or two little cups) :

1 ripe avocado 
2 ripe kiwis
Half a ripe pear
Apple juice (enough to cover)
Juice of half a lime

Whizz in a blender (or Magic Bullet Blender, which I highly recommend) until smooth. Until smoothie. 

The avocado gives it a velvety texture but the kiwi and lime are crisp and tangy. So it's a creamy drink that also manages to be fresh. Devine. And I'm sure it constitutes at least two of your five-a-day.

(Confession. This is a stolen recipe. It's an approximation of a smoothie from my favourite japanese eatery - Satsuma Restaurant in Soho. It feels good to admit this. I hope you can forgive me?)
